My First Computer

on July 27, 2006

I was a bit nostalgic when I played the third player view game Recoil in my Virtual PC 2004 after installing Win98se.It made me go back to those days when my dad got us a Hifi advanced Pentium I with MMX technology in April 1998.The best 3d game at that time was Roadrash and Recoil demo version.Although system was really low in resources, but it has served the purpose and still continues to do it;I sold it to one of my friend who just uses for internet and entertainment.I don’t have a picture of it..but I remember the configuration here it goes and we bought that for a 1000$ and sold for a 50$,by dad was really pissed off with the depreciation of price in just 4 years of use.

Congi:

  • Pentium 166Mhz processor with MMX
  • 16MB ram upgraded to 32 MB in a year.
  • 15″ samsonite Monitor.
  • Max resolution 800*600
  • 16X ASUS CDrom
  • 2.1GB seagate hardsisk..damn I have a 2gb flash drive in my wallet.
  • 36kbps External mono Dlink Modem.
  • Floppy drive.

One think amazes me..I did have two OS running on this system win98se and red hat linux 6.0,2.1gb was more rthan enough for me.Thanks to virtual PC for letting me play my old games again.
