Willow TV monthly cricket package review/cancellation policy sucks

on March 25, 2012

I’m always up for paying non-pirated content when the price is right and that’s the reason why I still subscribe to Netflix, Hulu Plus , amazon Video and even RedBox sometimes.

I thought Willow TV was one of the good business that finally found a way to feed the cricket starved North American south-Asians with a HD streaming for a fair price of 15$ per month. When my friends were watching pirated online streams of World Cup me and my friend paid 150$ to watch Cricket world Cup and believe me the picture clarity and the feeling of not pirating was gr8. I was happily boasting Willow TV to my friends and encouraging to shy away from pirated feeds which broke all the time, but today I’m recommending all my friends please not to give business to Willow TV and below is the reason.

I took up the monthly package for the 2012 India Australia One day series and got it extended for the Asia Cup series as well. Since there wasn’t any India series coming up in April I wrote back a mail to Willow to cancel my subscription and I got 2 mails from them one stating that 5$ has been charged for cancellation charge and other from CSR stating the same which is ridiculous.

When I request the reason for 5$ cancellation they point to flimsy terms of service which is never shown when a user signs up for the monthly package. Looks like this problem has been going on for a while and this unethical of Willow TV to punish users for canceling service when they have monopoly over cricket streams over North America. I’m not sure if I can file a complaint with Better Business Burea or even report unauthorized charges to my credit card company since it was my mistake not to read through the terms.

The least I could do is make a blog post and show the world how Willow TV treats their customer and hopefully this posts hits the first page of Google during searches.

So long Willow TV no more business from me and hopefully all my friends.

I have asked for a cancellation of “Willow TV Monthly Subscription” package 3 times to support@willow.tv which is the only way of contacting willow.tv no phone contact information anywhere on their website.

But, there is no response confirming the cancellation. I’m really frustrated about the unresponsiveness of this merchant and I’m pondering of finding a way of cancelling the subscription.

The willow.tv website says in the terms of use, to send an email to support@willow.tv to unsubscribe and a $5 charge will be issues to unsubscribe. But, till now I did not receive any confirmation or any email from them.

      Screenshot,
I would recommend disputing the charges with ur credit card company if willow charges after the cancellation. I don’t think u can dispute the 5$ charge though since its mentioned in the terms of use.
      Thx
      Al

I had the same problem. This is their response

    1) Dear User,
Please try re-accessing directly on http://www.willow.tv and confirm.

Then I send them another email

    I get this response now
    2)Dear Customer,

Kindly try accessing on alternative browser and let us know your feedback.

No idea what they do and how to cancel it. Seems like disputing the charge with Credit Card company is the only way to do it. What a sham.

  3. If they dont charge even after your sending them email then you can take action against them

I faced the same problem recently with willow tv sneaking in a $5 charge when i tried to cancel. Willow TV is not getting my business anytime soon that is for sure. Trust a desi company to come up with these business killing ideas.

I also encountered the same problem. I was charged for the second month of monthly package. If I hadn’t checked my bank online I wouldn’t have known it is so bullshit from them. When we signup it should say something. That there will be a charge after month finishes…. I have emailed them today to sort it out. I bought it for a friend also. Is there anyway to remove credit card so that it wouldn’t be charged, or is it saved in there website or whatever…. SO PISSED!

its been almost a year since I used their account pages so not sure what’s the current page offers but even at that time there was no way to remove the stored CC information. The only option I can recommend is report the transaction as unauthorized to the CC provider which would block the transfer.

All said and done, Willow TV is protected with their terms and conditions that is on their website. As consumers and subscribers we have to read that and be cautious. I experienced the same problem as most of you described above. The only thing all CRICKET lovers can do is to stop giving your business to WILLOW TV. Or proceed cautiously if you are OK to pay the $5 cancellation fee.

Cancelling your account is possible, just irritatingly time consuming and frustrating. I sent them a message telling them I wanted to cancel my account as I was returning to the UK and could no longer use it. I got an email back from them telling me that I could keep my subscription for 10 bucks a month. I emailed them back and saying you obviously haven’t read my email, can’t use the subscription so cancel it.

I then got another email back about 20 minutes later saying okay how about $7.50 a month! I wrote back and said you really aren’t reading these emails are you? Even if you offered me it for free I couldn’t use it so cancel it. Within 5 minutes I had two emails from them one telling me they had cancelled teh account and one telling they had charged me the legendary five buck cancellation fee.

Whether they have cancelled it or not, I don’t really care as the bank account with the associated card is being closed so there is no way for them to get any money from it anyway (which was to be my next tactic – telling them if they wanted their five dollars of flesh they better do it quickly as the account was no longer going to be there for them to extract it from if they didn’t!).

Personally I have been pleased with the rest of their service – the games have always been there when I have logged on, in general the quality of the feed has been good and ultimately how else am I really going to watch England play cricket (legally) on my computer in the USA? However trying to get out of the subscription does make them appear to be a bunch of cowboys.

Avoid using them? Possibly but if you do be prepared to draw blood from a stone to leave.

Willow TV sucks bigtime.. I bought IPL 2013 HD pass for $40.00 and I can’t even watch any highlightes of the game when I miss out on any game, I get a message saying “video must be rented to watch” when I have paid $40.00 for God knows what. Guys PLEASE DON’T BUY WILLOW CRAP… IT REALLY SUCKKKSSSS…!!
