Irony 2011

With the Tamil Nadu assembly election coming up in April 13,2011 I’m sure we are gonna see more contradictory statements from all politicians.

Check out this news where the TN political parties are requesting the election commission for extension of campaign timings on the last day of the campaign day to 11 PM because they have short time to campaign but they really really like to postpone the election date itself from April 13th,2011 since they don’t want the polls to affect the SSLC students, festivals.

But they are just fine disturbing people and poor students who will be studying overnight for just one night till 11 PM for the sake of conducting a free and fair election?

We choose where we develop..

I was always under the impression that my country India was well developed culturally/socially and still developing economically.

Its not more than a year since 26/11/2008 Mumbai attacks happened and already my country(India) government has totally forgotten about it. The Prime minister of India is on whirl wind tour of USA during 26/11 this year and talking about the US – India relationship/climate change/nuclear deal which is good though but not @ the cost of missing out on paying respect to the fallen people on 26/11/2008.

May be

  1. they lost count of days to pay respect for the dead due to bomb blasts or
  2. have a better reason not known to everyone or
  3. didn’t care about it or
  4. technically the head of State is the president who is back there in India or
  5. practically the head of government is back in India :) . you know it

Just think about it would any of the developed countries head of states would have accepted the invitation to vist a foreign country that too on the first anniversary of a bomb blast itself?

Looks like we are trying too hard to develop economically and loosing the social part of it. I do know the PM is taking care of business as a professional weighing on the benefits but still it could have been handled in a better way. Just my thought..

The Ripple Effect

With the United Progressive Alliance – UPA lead by Congress(I) winning the 2009 Indian parlimentary election with a surprise and its ripple effects has started showing up.

Obviously the first place to feel the effect is the closest to the center that’s Srilanka where BBC has reported that Velupillai Prabhakaran leader of LTTE has been killed. Although it could be rumor as usual but pretty much LTTE will be taken of the equation from now on in Srilanka.

But good news LTTE regrets the loss of innocents life ,not able to protect them any more and willing to silence their guns (nice term indeed).

There above statement is like the saying in tamil

kann ketta pin sooriya namash kaaram

which means Praying to the Sun god after losing the eye.

All mayhem over the weekend..

Update – 05/24/2009:

LTTE has finally accepted that Prabhakaran is dead. Hopefully with the end there will be a better solution in srilanka.

What next?

I was totally shocked and surprised by this sudden move of the current CM of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi to go on an indefinite fast unto death today to bring a ceasefire between srilanka and ltte.

That too after  J Jayalalithaa declared she would strive to form Eelam if she wins the 40 seats.

Sooner or later some one is going to promise we will rename Tamil Nadu to Eelam if we form the government in central. We still got solid 17 days before D day so any thing can happen people be on the watch out…

If I’m right these 2 parties AIDMK and DMK ruled Tamil Nadu for last 30 years ,were part of most governments in central and this war has been going for last 30 years.

What are the odds of this scenario happening and a solution not being found for last 30 years?

A question that pretty much every security agency protecting politicians all around world are worried about.

But its pretty simple especially for Indian police just change the press conference to a near by Hindu temple where shoes/slippers are not allowed inside and you are safe. :)

It would be better if they avoid the following temple mentioned here. Please send me the video link if you find one.

Raise of Rahul Gandhi

Rahul GandhiThe whole world knows that one day he will become the Prime minister of India but when it will happen is the question. Especially with the parliamentary elections coming up in April 2009 and considering Mr.Manmohan Singh health condition  the question will be speculated by every media org.

Irrespective of who wins the election Mr.Rahul Gandhi will be a winner because all his moves are carefully planned and backed up by Ms.Sonia Gandhi the advantage Mr.Rajiv Gandhi lacked and we all know his end.

My personal opinion is Congress would allocate him the much hyped Information and Broadcasting ministry which was held by Ms.Indira Gandhi if Congress forms the government in 2009 which would get him the much needed experience to control the coalition parties.

If congress looses the election its actually better for him since he would have the much needed anti-incumbency factor from the 2009 goverment which in turn would get him the majority to form goverment in 2014 or earlier.

Until then the PM/opposition leader from congress will be Mr.Pranab Mukherjee or Mr.Manmohan Singh if his health permits.

We Indians are so used to the dynasty culture that we choose to elect kings in a democracy.

We only can..

I can’t understand why would General Fonseka of Srilanka call TN politicians a joker which is absolutely right but he doesn’t have the right to cell them only we do.

If this makes him happy there are lot of Indians who will call this politicians jokers so general please don’t even worry about that. Well if you do want to call them names please do apply for Indian Citizenship.

I don’t remember where I read this statement “Every country in world have their army but only pakistan,turkey army has a country”. Looks like Srilanka as whole will also be added to that list of armies having a country sooner.

We Condemned assassination of Rajiv Gandhi 1991
We Condemned demolition of Babri Masjid 1992
We Condemned 1992 Mumbai riots
We Condemned 1993 Mumbai blasts
We Condemned 2001 Indian parliament attack
We Condemned 2002 Godhra train bombing
We Condemned 2003 Mumbai blasts
We Condemned 2006 Mumbai blasts
We Condemned so many blasts this year
We have Condemned Mumbai 2008 blasts as well.

We have Condemned all along and all the perpetrators who causes this incidents are still roaming around freely in this world.
I’m tired of Condemnation and as a Indian I Condemn the government for its inactions.

Sabapathy one of a kind

There are some movies that you can watch n number times because they are so well made and the plot of the movie still applies today. Sabapathy released in 1941 falls under that category and a precursor to all comedy movies in tamil.

Most of the new comedians mostly take a thread from this movie and repackage to the current trend. One simple example is the repackaging of the master servant switching places story one example I could remember right away is Ullathai alithaa which was big hit in 90′s.

Some other surprising things I noticed are:

  1. People bribed even before India got Independence and it was even shown in movies. So bribe was something that we had it not something we generated after independence. Still we haven’t fixed it thats the sad part. Almost 70 years of promises by politicians.
  2. Tanglish was born and brought up even before the Dravidian parties was formed and it flourished. E.g ‘ivan nusiance thanga mudiyala sir’,'vera enna seilam brother’,'brother ithalam ippadi vaika’. The percentage is still low but Tanglish had it roots long before.
  3. Sabapathy father complains about his son not knowing to right 2 pages in tamil and my dad shares the same feeling. View @ 19.00 Minutes in Video 1.

70 years of time has passed but people haven’t changed.

What ever may be this is one good movie that I can enjoy watching any time any where rather than watching the new ones.
